Jeanine shared the results of following the Wheat Belly 10-Day Grain Detox, now 18 days into the program.
“18 days, 7.2 lbs down and I am feeling great! All my symptoms that I had before like bloating, rashes, sinus issues, IBS are gone! I can tell the inflammation in my face has changed in this pic.
“This group was very big in my success, thank you!”
Despite the different lighting in the photos, you can see how the shape of Jeanine’s face had changed, as we so often see on the Wheat Belly lifestyle. In just over two weeks, Jeanine’s skin and body have reversed inflammation and edema (water retention), as well as the rashes she describes. Being relieved from bloating and IBS symptoms suggests reversal of gastrointestinal irritation/inflammation, and relief from sinus issues suggests reversal of airway inflammation.
Just think of how inflammation is “treated” by conventional medicine: diuretics for water retention, acid blocking H2 blockers and proton pump inhibitors for stomach inflammation, antispasm and anti-diarrheal agents for intestinal irritation/inflammation, steroid and adrenaline-like (beta agonist) inhalers for sinus congestion . . . none of which address the underlying cause.
What side-effects accompany the Wheat Belly lifestyle? After the initial opiate withdrawal symptoms are over, side-effects include weight loss, increased energy, freedom from migraines, drops in blood sugar and blood pressure, mental clarity, reduction in appetite, and many others. Unlike prescription drugs to treat inflammation, there will be no potassium depletion and sudden cardiac death (diuretics); dysbiosis, osteoporosis, and vitamin B12 deficiency (H2 blockers and proton pump inhibitors); or dry mouth, nervousness, dizziness, and blurred vision (anti-spasm agents). The Wheat Belly lifestyle also costs virtually nothing after the initial costs required to restock your kitchen with non-grain foods, even resulting in modest cost savings when the entire family engages in this lifestyle (due to reduced calorie intake).
By engaging in the Wheat Belly Detox and now the long-term Wheat Belly strategies, she has changed the course of her life. Not only does she look different, but the future course of her health will be entirely different, freed from the great majority of chronic health conditions that plague grain-consuming people.
I love the Wheat Belly diet plan, and I have had amazing success with this diet – no more migraines and no more arthritis pain! But I am just wondering about the statistics announced by Dr. Fuhrman [sp], regarding his “No More Dieting” series on PBS, where he states that eating animal protein such as beef, chicken, fish, pork leads to cancer (he says four times greater than average) and heart disease…he says in this series that animal protein is killing us for sure, and that we are doomed if we continue consuming such… I mean, I am not going to stop following Dr. Davis’ diet plan for any reason, but I am curious if other people have heard this lecture and what they are saying about it…

There are people who are primarily interested in optimized human diet, who might at any time think that the vegetarian approach is it, but could be persuaded that they are mistaken (Dr. Davis, for example, is an ex-vegetarian, as am I).
Then there are those for whom vegetarian is the answer (and the agenda), now what was the question?
I haven’t studied enough of Dr. Fuhrman’s work to know which describes him, but you might be able to figure it out.
«…he states that eating animal protein such as beef, chicken, fish, pork leads to cancer…»
Rigged and bungled studies to that effect seem to arise about once a year. Here’s the most recent one that resulted in a Wheat Belly Blog article:
https://drdavisinfinitehealth.com/2015/10/go-ahead-eat-your-meat/
These studies routinely fail to look at microbiome (as Dr. D. points out in that post), and/or don’t isolate any low-carb cohorts, and/or lump processed meat products in with what they redefine to be “red” meat, and/or fail to control for organic pastured meat vs. CAFO.
If there’s any recent science to the contrary, I’d be happy to look at it, but these PBS shows rarely include cites you can click on.
I personally also consider the WB approach to be highly cancer protective (on the metabolic theory of cancer), due to being very low net carb, very low inflammatory, immunity-enhancing, low in other cancer triggers, and generally supportive of healthy mitochondria.
And lest anyone get the wrong idea, vegetarians are welcome here. Indeed, if someone wants to do Wheat Belly as vegetarian, I have a summary of things to be mindful of.

After hearing about Wheat Belly on the Bill O’Riely program, I purchased the book. I had been working out faithfully for several years but never lost any weight. After eliminating wheat and greatly reducing my sugar consumption, in a three month time frame I lost approx. 32 lbs. I was amazed how much energy I had during this time. I did experience withdrawal symptoms after eliminating all wheat products but that soon passed.
Now two years later, I am still at my desired weight and feel great. I don’t ever think about eating any wheat products nor am I tempted to eat any food with sugar. I occasionally will have a sugar treat but that is seldom and I don’t ever have any cravings for sugar.
Thanks Doctor Davis for showing me the way to better sustainable health.
I am starting my 3 week on the Wheat Belly diet and have not lost an ounce.
Any thoughts anyone?? Discouraged ?
Have you eliminated all grains too?
Also, you have to watch your sugar intake. My sister and I gave up the wheat, grains and sugar and we each lost over 30 lbs in 4-5 months.

There are multiple possible common confounders. Start with:

and the three articles linked from it on thyroid, microbiome, and medications.

Can this be achieved with wheat avoidance only ? Or all grains have to be excluded.

Excluding wheat, barley and rye only can do quite a bit, but if you don’t exclude other grains it’s hard to get net carbs down where it needs to be, and you’re exposed to various problems associated with specific non-gluten grains (gliadin-like proteins, lectins, toxins).
Further, in case it’s not clear, the Wheat Belly dietary recommendations include a lot more than merely grain avoidance: very low net carb, higher specific fats, microbiome remediation, etc., all covered in Wheat Belly Total Health or the 10-Day Detox books.

I am a believer and wheat bellyite! But I wish in this before and after, the before, all yellow and frowning, was shot in good light and smiling like the after. It makes it too easy to be skeptical
No reason to be skeptical because it’s me and all true!!
