I recently asked the Wheat Belly Facebook audience to provide some before/after photos. Some pretty astounding photos and stories resulted that highlight the inflammation-reversing, age-reversing transformations in appearance with this lifestyle, even more than accounted for by weight loss alone. Here’s a sample.
If you’d like to share your before/after photos or experiences, the best place is on the Facebook page.

Hope I don’t write too much and too often just need to share. My job is in sales (sorta). Lots of pressure and with that and Chicago traffic I would have drank 3 large cokes a day and donuts and other garbage as stress from job mounted. This is amazing!!!!!!

Traffic is low enough here that it’s not likely to be a problem. I suspect the Wheat Belly Facebook page is more commonly used for more-or-less live progress reports.

Excellent. By “this” I presume that you mean consuming no snacks, and perhaps just drinking water? That is how it works.
One medium (16 oz.) “original” Coke is, on the Wheat Belly net carb budget, the entire day’s worth of available carbohydrates (all sugar). When we consider how many people routinely drink a half a gallon of such pop per day, or flavored coffee beverages, sugar-laden snacks, plus sugar-adulterated processed and prepared foods, it’s little wonder that we have a diabetes epidemic.

I started this life style change 2weeks ago. I am a total sugar addict – have gone out at 2 am for my fix a coke! I can eat sugar from the bag. My concern now is that I will send my body into starvation mode as my appetite is so low. I started at 166 and was at 158 a few days ago. I am 5’8″. 52 year old female. I hate count calories but want to make sure I eat enough. This is a miracle. I feel good again. Many blessings to all.

What exactly is the concern? I don’t recall anyone raising this as an issue per se in the past, so I hesitate to make assumptions.

Some days I just have no real appetite since my blood sugar is stable. I eat well when I eat – rib eye, eggs lots of scrumptious salads and veggies. I have always been told that if you do not eat a certain number of calories your body will feel it is being starved and metabolism will slow. Just wondered your thoughts. I am enjoying just eating when I want and not focusing on my next candy bar.

That’s an important consideration for anyone with diabetes, although you didn’t mention that in your case:

«I have always been told that if you do not eat a certain number of calories your body will feel it is being starved and metabolism will slow.»
Wheat Belly Total Health (p300), for this reason, advises not skipping the same meal every day, but reduced caloric intake is not in general a problem, as intermittent and extended fasts are recommended if desired.
«I am enjoying just eating when I want and not focusing on my next candy bar.»
I would suggest letting your appetite be your guide until/unless some clear problem arises.

Thank you so much. So frstrated that I let myself get into this shape! But I know the way out!
You won’t ‘starve’. Your body is just going back to the proper food levels it only actually needs, we just forget because of the addiction of wheat, grains and sugar. People will say ‘OK, you need to stop now, because they’re perspective is from the last 20 years and the growing levels of obesity we have all become accustomed to surrounding us. Let you body go back down to the single digit size that it craves.
Would taking turmeric be a good supplement for inflammation? I’ve been dealing with shoulder arthritis for a couple years now. Also I’ve read where it’s good for cholesterol. Thanks in advance
Greg wrote: «Would taking turmeric be a good supplement for inflammation?»
It’s mentioned for that and other ailments, under the Curcumin topic, on pages 230 and 231 (Chapter 10) of Wheat Belly Total Health.
«Also I’ve read where it’s good for cholesterol.»
That wasn’t mentioned in WBTH, so I’m going to surmise that any lipid effect is immaterial.
It’s also worth pointing out that in any case of inflammation, the long-term goal needs to be addressing the cause of the inflammation. Inflammation is the body responding to some injury or insult, and although it can often be valuable to reduce inflammation per se, we don’t want to just chronically treat a symptom.

Hello to all. My first long travel since starting wheat belly recommendations 17 days ago. Breezing through – enjoying Chicago not high on cokes, corn chips, and candy. So grateful!!!!
Starvation mode is largely a myth unless you are 4-5% body fat and almost no one is. Your body can convert your fat to triglycerides and then ketones. You can survive on this for months.
How long til you lost your appetite?
Just because you are cutting out grains and refined sugars doesn’t mean you should be starving yourself. Be sure and eat plenty of proteins, veggies and brightly colored fruit – the darker the better.

Fats are fine too. Do mind the net carbs on the fruits. Some are little different than candy in terms of sugar content.
